Is Coaching for me?

Coaching can support you if you:

  • Are seeking a personalized, one-on-one relationship with a coach to identify goals, strengths, and areas for development

  • Are open to receiving guidance, support, and feedback to achieve personal or professional goals

  • Are a manager, small business owner, or executive facing challenges such as low performance, disengaged employees, too many priorities and not enough resources, unproductive conflicts, career fulfillment, burnout, time management, succession planning, or strategic planning

  • Need a confidential thought-partner to vent to, gain perspective on what is in their control, and make choices to improve performance and have more impact.

Coaching is not for you if:

  • You're looking for someone else to solve your problems. Unlike consulting, coaching is all about tapping into your inner abilities and helping you identify and improve those abilities to solve problems.

  • You can't ditch your ego and don't feel the need to improve or grow.

  • Your employer is forcing you to get coaching. You have to want to be here and want the support.

  • You're looking to focus on past traumas, hardships, and tragedies. Coaching focuses on the present and the future of your professional career or business, and while we may touch on the past, we typically won't stay there long. Seeking support through a licensed therapist or psychologist would be a more appropriate path for healing and reflection.

Remember that coaching is a collaborative and supportive partnership that requires openness, commitment, and accountability from both the coach and the client. If you're not open to feedback or resistant to change, not willing to take responsibility for your actions and decisions, or not willing to invest the time and resources necessary for coaching to be effective, then coaching may not be the best fit for you. However, if you're ready to make a positive change in your life or career and willing to work in partnership with a coach, coaching can be a powerful tool for achieving your goals and realizing your full potential.
